In his latest COVID-19 update, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont said that there were 26,603 COVID-19 tests administered on Tuesday, Sept. 7, resulting in 935 laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus.
The 3.51 percent daily positivity rate is up from 2.60 percent over the weekend.
According to the Department of Health, there are now 364 COVID-19 patients being treated in Connecticut hospitals, with 274 (75.3 percent) being unvaccinated.
The latest update on COVID-19-related deaths in Connecticut is expected on Thursday, Sept. 9.
Officials noted that the Delta variant of COVID-19 continues to be the dominant strain in Connecticut, now accounting for more than 85 percent of all new infections, officials noted. In the past week, the number of cases of the Delta variant is also up hundreds over the past several weeks.
Of the total new cases in recent weeks, health officials said there have been more than 7,250 breakthrough cases involving vaccinated individuals in Connecticut.
Since the pandemic began in March 2020, there have been more than 10.6 COVID-19 tests administered, with 377,682 testing positive.
The latest breakdown of confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Connecticut, by county, according to the state Department of Health on Wednesday, Sept. 8:
- Fairfield: 106,924 (11,335 per 100,000 residents);
- New Haven: 99,629 (11,656);
- Hartford: 91,956 (10,312);
- New London: 24,985 (9,421);
- Litchfield: 15,836 (8,782);
- Middlesex: 13,941 (8,582);
- Windham: 11,718 (10,034);
- Tolland: 10,488 (6,959).
